It’s 3 AM. Woken in a fit of coughing and with a boggy nose, I waddle to the kitchen, to the fridge. I reach for the carton of most pulp orange juice and refill my cup. I swallow two pills to help with the aches, pains and fever.
It’s 3 AM. The world is at rest. It isn’t a time to call my local friends and have them lavish sympathy on me for being in the hard place of a congested head and weak lungs. A flick of the finger brings sounds from the radio. Peaceful music flows momentarily. Then an elderly man begins to read Scripture.
Then an announcer asked, “Are in a hard place”? I began to laugh, until coughing sucked the air and the laughter out of me. “You have to go through the hard place to get to the high place”. “Don’t get hung up in your hard place. We all get hung up, but don’t quit there. What’s one more mile when you’ve already been through hell? You cannot have a miracle without a crisis. If you have ever had a crisis, you are closer to a miracle than you’ve ever been.” “The Bible said, it was just a half acre that the Philistines occupied.”
It’s 3 AM. The world is at rest. It isn’t a time to call my local friends and have them lavish sympathy on me for being in a hard place of a congested head and weak lungs. It is a time to sip from a cup of refreshment and health. It is time to hear words of clarity and Truth and Love from the Lover. “You cannot allow other people’s experience to determine …”
A congested head and weak lungs may come from seasonal allergies and reactions to chemicals. Critical mindsets and bitterness of soul will make you sick and weak as well. Your health and energy will be drained by contaminants, or carriers of contaminants. You will not feel like going one more mile to get beyond the hard place. You will not feel like waking to drink from the cup of refreshment and health.
If it’s 3 AM and you have been woken in a fit of allergic reactions to life and it feels like you’ve rested in the pit of hell, it is time to hear words of clarity and Truth and Love from the Lover. You are closer to a miracle than you’ve ever been.
