A Burning Bush

He spoke through the burning bush that He did not consume.  With Holy Fire, His purpose burned brightly.  A form in which the man was familiar he saw,

yet he was held in awe.

Seeing with his eyes the fire of power, hearing with his ears words of omniscience,

yet his mind rebelled

with improbability and his heart quaked with impossibility.  From within the burning bush of Holy Fire, he was called.  From within the burning bush of indomitable power, he was commissioned.  With the command given, deliverance was promised.  Deliverance of His children would come through the obedience of one.

With Holy Fire, He still speaks through His Word and His Spirit.  His purpose still burns brightly through His Word and His Spirit.  With indomitable power, He still commissions through His Word and His Spirit.  Deliverance and obedience are still part of His promises by His Word and His Spirit.

Yet burning bushes

are still sought as a sign of His Presence, His Power and His Promises.

Yet we seek

a sign when perhaps we, His children, are to be the sign.

  1. Yes, I think we are the burning bushes. We are alight because we are the righteousness of Jesus Christ. By His Spirit He reveals Himself to us, in us and through us in ways only He can accomplish. His command is ‘Be still and know.’ I would add to that ‘and let the fire show.’
