It Happens in a Moment

It happens in a moment …

for a spark to become a flame.

for a fire to be extinguished.

for people to seek shelter.

for a township to be demolished.

for someone to become a hero.

for a reputation to be destroyed.

to create a baby.

to kill a baby.

to avoid an accident while traveling.

to be the cause of an accident while traveling.

to say “I do”.

to say “I don’t anymore”.

to show respect for someone else.

to show preference for self.

to offer acceptance to someone different.

to shut down someone seen as lesser than you.

to say, “I love you”.

to say, “Go to hell”.

to be filled with the spirit of peace.

to be filled with the spirit of chaos.

to encourage.

to rant.

to vindicate oneself.

to vilify another.

to ask for help.

to give up.

to choose forgiveness.

to choose bondage.

to choose Love.

to ignore Love.

A lifetime, of choices in the moment, will lead to contentment, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, grace, joy, kindness, love, patience, peace, self-control and winsomeness.  In the end, we will be remembered as wise.

A lifetime, of choices in the moment, will lead to anxiety, confusion, inability to find meaning, insecurity, living to feed insatiable desires, lack of purpose, overwhelming passions, parasitic anger and bitterness, pleasure that lasts but in the moment but yet eats away at you and others for a lifetime.  In the end, we will be remembered as a fool.

It happens in a moment …

the choices that we make.
