Longing to Belong

Longing to belong,
I search for marriage.
Instead I find,
I am yet alone.

Longing to belong,
I serve in ministry.
It is there that I learn,
I am not enough.

Longing to belong,
I dine with the masses.
I sit and feast,
I leave yet still hungry.

Longing to belong,
I primp and preen.
I pose and perform,
I wait again for acceptance.

Longing to belong,
in solitude I retreat.
Transparency and Truth,
on both I lean.

Longing to belong,
Healing and Intimacy rush in.
Hope and Faith,
on both I stand.
