Power Pure and Simple

Power in the hands of the pure and simple
works for good and not for evil.

Power in the hands of the one tormented
attacks until the bitter end.

Power in the hands of the one insecure
manipulates and feeds off the strength of others.

Power in the hands of the one angry
explodes at the least provocation.

Power in the hands of any human being
can be used for right or used for wrong.

Not one of us is truly pure and simple
and the power that we wield often is selfish.

We use our love as power
to decide for others what’s best for them.

We use our positions, our authority as power
to control, to cajole, to manipulate what’s best for us.

We use our money as power
to buy superiority or to hide behind inferiority.

We use our time as power
to make a statement about our priorities.

We use our sexuality as power
to weaken the other and strengthen ourselves.

Power in the hands of any human being
can be used for right or used for wrong.

Not one of us is truly pure and simple
and the power that we wield often is selfish.

No one has gone through life
and not felt the power of another over us, both for good and bad.

No one has gone through life
and not held power over someone, both for good and bad.

Power in the hands of the pure and simple
works for good and not for evil.

Power in the Hands of the Holy One
always has and always will work for Love, work for good.

Not many days go by when we are not ready
to push against the power that works against us.

But when next you do, remember
not one of us is truly pure and simple.

Only the Holy One was able to grasp
power in HIS hands and not do evil.

Remember this and do not forget
HE now has nail-scarred Hands.
