Pouring rain outside creates a percussion of rhythmic pitter-patter on the rooftop and a puddling of moving water across the grassy surfaces. Praise music on the inside creates an atmosphere of tranquility and security with flowing words of peace and fiery declarations of hope and as affirmations of it will be well, it is well, with my soul.
Tight and weak muscles on the outside form a body that obeys its own goals and abilities, obedient to the firing neurons and not mind’s rapid thoughts and desires. Vibrant passions on the inside form a heart and soul that longs to be obedient to the Spirit and a warrior of Righteousness and Love, a beautiful offering to the Creator and a message of encouragement and joy altogether.
Great adversity on the outside with buffeting winds and ominous clouds, with obstructed roads and overflowing banks gives pause and doubt for safe journeys. Great adoration and worship on the inside with confirmation and fortification gives rest and assurance for the journeys ahead.
The view from the inside may be opposite of what is on the outside. The impression from the outside may not be consistent with what is going on in the inside. There is always a tension and a rub with opposing perspectives. The outside where we have limited control often determines that perspective. The inside where we have ownership often is neglected.
