Celebration

Today is my birthday and there will be a celebration.

This week has been riddled with memories.  Each one has been a shot at worth and value as if they were missives from a marksman, a target of a fireteam.  The bullets have whizzed by, whistling through the wind with predetermined force.  The war wages, a war that began 50 years ago.

But today is my birthday and there will be a celebration.

Perhaps there will be no surprise parties, no intimate gathering around fine linen, a band and a dance floor.  There will be no floor-to-ceiling streamers, balloons and decorations. The cameras will not be clicking and the videos will not be rolling.  The war wages, a war that began 50 years ago.

Nonetheless, today is my birthday and there will be a celebration.

There will be a celebration for in me there is Life.  From that Life flows predetermined Love, Purpose and Hope.  From that Life the Passion Story began before time and will continue beyond the limits of time.  The celebration began before birth delivered a new baby into the arms of an overwhelmed young mother 50 years ago.

And so today is my birthday and there will be a celebration.

Your court and your rule may continue as long as you live, for if it ended you would surely die. Your bullets adorn the collar that you fashioned for me, like rhinestone studs around a leather strap meant for control and submission.  Today that collar comes off and so the hell that you bring to me will rest in full measure on you and not me.

Today is my birthday and there will be a celebration.  And that is the bald truth for the next 50 years to go.

  1. A very blessed birthday to you, Debbie. I would do a birthday happy dance for you but a 4th stoke has cemented my left side so even walking is a challenge.
